For more information, visit https://www.reyn.org/about-rcs/mission-vision-values.</p> <p>Primary Job Function:</p> <p>The Reynoldsburg City Schools' District Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and maintaining a productive learning environment in the absence of the regular summer school classroom teacher. This position ensures that summer learning objectives-including credit recovery and bridge programs-continue without interruption by following lesson plans, managing student behavior, and supporting the academic and social-emotional needs of all students.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Valid Ohio Substitute Teaching License or Professional Teaching License issued by the Ohio Department of Education.</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to successfully pass required criminal background checks (BCI/FBI).</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Previous experience teaching in a summer school or accelerated learning environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of Reynoldsburg City Schools' curriculum and instructional technology (e.g., Google Classroom, PowerSchool).</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to manage diverse classroom settings and differentiate instruction.</p> </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary functions may include the following duties, responsibilities, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions within this classification.</p> <p>Instructional Delivery</p> <ul> <li> <p>Executes lesson plans left by the absent teacher with high fidelity while ensuring students remain engaged in summer learning targets.</p> </li><li> <p>Adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those in credit recovery or intervention programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitates the use of instructional technology and digital resources as required by the summer curriculum.</p> </li></ul> <p>Classroom Management & Safety</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintains a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning during the summer session.</p> </li><li> <p>Implements district and building-level student behavior expectations and follows all safety protocols.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervises students during non-instructional times, such as arrivals, departures, and breaks.</p> </li></ul> <p>Student Progress & Reporting</p> <ul> <li> <p>Records accurate student attendance in PowerSchool as required by summer school compliance standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides written feedback for the returning teacher regarding student progress, completed work, and any behavioral incidents.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures student work is collected, graded (if required), and organized for the regular classroom teacher.</p> </li></ul> <p>Professional Collaboration</p> <ul> <li> <p>Collaborates with summer school building administrators, secretaries, and fellow educators to ensure program consistency.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends the mandatory planning session on June 1st and any other required summer staff meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Models the principles of the Portrait of an Educator in all interactions with students, staff, and families.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Effective classroom management strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>Subject matter appropriate for the assigned grade level (K-12).</p> </li><li> <p>Student confidentiality laws (FERPA).</p> </li><li> <p>Reynoldsburg City Schools' mission and Portrait of an Educator.</p> </li></ul> <p>Skilled in:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Verbal and written communication.</p> </li><li> <p>Use of educational technology (Google Workspace, interactive whiteboards).</p> </li><li> <p>Identifying and responding to diverse student learning needs.</p> </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Follow oral and written instructions accurately.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a professional and flexible attitude in a variety of classroom settings.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish rapport with students quickly in a short-term instructional environment.</p> </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
