<p>The Environmental Team is currently seeking an Underwriter whose primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks in the Environmental space.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Work collaboratively with Regional Manager, Underwriting Team and other unit and region colleagues </li><li>Execute regional marketing and sales strategies including prospecting, cross sell and upsell initiatives </li><li>Local and regional agency and broker visitations/travel </li><li>Solicit new and renewal submissions from brokers </li><li>Determine terms, conditions and pricing using approved rating plans, underwriting guidelines and authority structures </li><li>Adhere to all underwriting standards and guidelines as outlined by the Division including all applicable Underwriting Guidelines, Authorities and Position Papers </li><li>Bind coverage and adhere to guidelines for accurate and timely policy issuance, accurate premium booking and billing, manuscript form and endorsement processes, and file construction and documentation </li><li>Documents the underwriting files thoroughly and accurately </li><li>Senior Underwriter will handle more complex files and portfolios within underwriting authority </li><li>Bachelor's degree </li><li>3-5 years underwriting or related environmental experience (broking, consulting, engineering, etc.) </li><li>Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures </li><li>Fundamentals of coverage, terms, and conditions: Ability to offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the company while meeting the needs of the customer </li><li>Risk Assessment: Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Ability to select risk based on exposure and risk analysis. Ability to analyze claims and quantify losses </li><li>Financial proficiency: Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis. Understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on company assets. Ability to understand credit risk </li><li>Marketing and Communications: Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. Ability to make presentations and communicate articulately. Ability to base communications on strategic thinking. Ability to manage producer strategy </li><li>Proficient oral and written communication skills </li></ul> <p>The pay range for the role is $97,000 to $164,900. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.</p>
