<p>General Function</p> <p>The Part-Time CCE Instructor- North Carolina State Inspection is responsible for delivering high-quality classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in North Carolina Safety and OBDII Emissions Inspection procedures. The instructor will prepare students to perform state-compliant inspections in accordance with guidelines established by the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) and the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ).</p> <p>Instruction will emphasize regulatory compliance, inspection procedures, ethical standards, and proper use of inspection equipment and diagnostic tools. The instructor must maintain current knowledge of state laws, safety regulations, and OBDII emissions standards.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Deliver classroom and lab instruction in: </li></ol> <p>a. North Carolina Safety Inspection requirements</p> <p>b. OBDII Emissions Inspection procedures</p> <p>c. Inspection station compliance and documentation</p> <p>d. Proper use of state-approved inspection equipment</p> <p>e. Vehicle systems related to safety and emissions</p> <ol start="2"> <li> <p>Prepare students to successfully complete state-required inspector training and testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate proper inspection workflow, including:</p> </li></ol> <p>a. Steering and suspension checks</p> <p>b. Brake system evaluation</p> <p>c. Lighting and electrical systems</p> <p>d. Tire and wheel inspection</p> <p>e. OBDII scan procedures and readiness monitors</p> <ol start="4"> <li> <p>Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and grades.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure lab activities comply with OSHA and college safety standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Stay current with updates to North Carolina inspection laws and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in program meetings and advisory committee discussions as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Support workforce development initiatives and community partnerships.</p> </li></ol> <p>Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Current North Carolina State Inspection License (Safety and OBDII). </li><li>Minimum of 3-5 years of professional automotive service experience. </li><li>Strong working knowledge of: </li></ul> <p>o OBDII diagnostic systems</p> <p>o Emissions readiness monitors</p> <p>o North Carolina inspection regulations</p> <p>o High school diploma or GED required</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate Degree in Automotive Systems Technology or related field. </li><li>ASE Certifications (especially A6, A8, L1). </li><li>Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience. </li><li>Experience using digital inspection and diagnostic software. </li><li>Community college teaching experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to explain technical concepts in clear, practical terms. </li><li>Strong classroom management and instructional skills. </li><li>Commitment to student success and workforce readiness. </li><li>Ability to integrate hands-on learning with regulatory standards. </li><li>Effective communication and organizational skills. </li><li>Proficiency with learning management systems and instructional technology. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Instruction takes place in both classroom and automotive lab/shop settings. </li><li>Requires standing and sitting for extended periods. </li></ul>
