<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Physical Education/Health Teacher - Holman Middle School - 2025-2026</p> <p>Position Purpose:</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the school principal(s), to develop students' physical skills and abilities, strength, agility, coordination, and teamwork; to develop students' understanding of the importance of exercise to physical and mental well-being; and to motivate students to work towards, physical fitness, hygiene, and good health.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Develops and administers physical education classes consistent with school district goals and objectives. </li><li>Teaches knowledge of, and develops skills and abilities in physical fitness, rhythm and dance, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports. </li><li>Develops students' concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility and social skills; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and provides appropriate feedback regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. </li><li>Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities and modifies instructional methods to meet individual student's needs. </li><li>Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the education field by attending seminars, workshops, professional development, department/district meetings, and/or by conducting research. </li><li>Keeps accurate and complete record regarding grading and attendance as required by district/building procedures/policies. </li><li>Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and their parents/guardians. </li><li>Ensures that student behavior conforms to school/district policies and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an effective learning environment. </li><li>Coordinates with other professional staff members, participates in faculty meetings, and attends professional development. </li><li>Selects appropriate learning materials/instructional tools consistent with district curriculum. </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s). </li></ul> <p>Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.</p> <p>It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.</p> <p>Travel Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles. </li><li>Ability to organize and coordinate work. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians. </li><li>Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Missouri State Certification in Physical Education AND Health K-12. </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university. </li></ul> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Candidates that have signed a contract for the 2025-26 school year need to check with their district prior to applying to ensure they can be released from their contract if they are recommended for the position.</p> <p>You are navigating off of REAP site to the district's posting.</p> <p>OK</p>
