<p>Assistant Principal-BCHS JobID: 7243</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration/High School Assistant Principal</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>7/23/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Bristol Central High School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>As soon as possible</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Open until filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: ADMINISTRATION</p> <p>REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL</p> <p>SUMMARY: Assists the principal with overall administration of the school</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Serves as a principal in the absence of the regular principal. </li><li>Proposes schedules of classes and extracurricular activities. </li><li>Supervises the preparation of student schedules. </li><li>Coordinates the implementation of PowerSchool. </li><li>Works with department heads and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests. </li><li>Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities and directs the school safety/climate team. </li><li>Assists in the coordination of student transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other support services. </li><li>Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and works with the attendance team for investigative follow-up actions. </li><li>Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deals with special cases as necessary. </li><li>Serves with parent, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives. </li><li>Performs such record keeping functions as the principal may direct. </li><li>Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal. </li><li>Evaluates performance of teachers, programs and staff. </li><li>Works with Central Office staff on systemwide initiatives and problems. </li><li>Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time-to-time assign. </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.</p> <p>Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.</p> <p>QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH ESSENTIAL DUTY SATISFACTORILY. THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND/OR ABILITY REQUIRED. REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS MAY BE MADE TO ENABLE INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Master's Degree and/or Sixth Year Certificate.</p> <p>Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience.</p> <p>CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS:</p> <p>Intermediate Administrative Certification.</p> <p>LANGUAGE SKILLS:</p> <p>Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, employees and the general public.</p> <p>MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:</p> <p>Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and concrete variables.</p> <p>COMPUTER SKILLS:</p> <p>Basic knowledge and experience with standard hardware and software applications. Ability to use computer for E-mail, word processing, accounting, databases and presentations.</p> <p>REASONING ABILITY:</p> <p>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.</p> <p>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <p>Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in verbal communication. Ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely in written format. Ability to perform duties with awareness of, and to adhere to, all district requirements and Board of Education policies and the State of Connecticut Educator Standards.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
