We're seeking an exceptional, business-oriented junior attorney to work closely with the SVP of litigation and information management on an array of complex U.S. corporate disputes. This role will also administer internal processes including around document retention, litigation holds and information management. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on litigation experience, particularly in complex commercial disputes and risk mitigation.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Manage a docket of a diverse range of corporate litigation matters across the country, in a multitude of practice areas and at various procedural stages (from pre-litigation threats and small claims to class certification, trials / arbitrations, and appeals). </li><li>Take a hands-on approach to all facets of litigation, including fact investigations, revising legal briefs, responding to discovery requests, preparing witnesses for testimony and negotiating settlements and drafting / revising settlement agreements. </li><li>Craft succinct, practical legal advice to achieve ambitious business goals, including counseling the business on best practices and communications with franchisees. </li><li>Manage information and document retention policies and practices to comply with all applicable laws and evolving best practices. </li><li>Manage service of process intake and issue litigation holds where appropriate. </li><li>Assist with quarterly litigation reporting. </li><li>Effectively communicates and manages business client expectations while adequately planning and organizing resources to keep pace with business demand and deadlines. </li><li>Maintains deep understanding of business objectives, adequately sports important legal issues, clearly communicates risks and considerations for business input, and takes a commercial approach to risk mitigation. </li><li>Inspires confidence in business clients by consistently providing well-reasoned legal advice and practical solutions to complex issues. </li><li>Exhibits a strong work ethic and takes ownership of complex projects with minimal supervision while demonstrating sound judgment and superior decision-making, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills; meets prescribed deadlines. </li><li>Demonstrates leadership and team-working skills in support of a collaborative environment. </li><li>Exhibits utmost professionalism in all settings; is capable of deploying strong advocacy skills in a tactful and effective manner. </li><li>Consistently produces excellent work product. </li><li>Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, internal clients, and external business partners. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and demonstrates the utmost integrity in all settings. </li><li>Coordinates cross-functional legal input by working closely with other attorneys in the legal department. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer or SVP. </li></ul> <p>Pay Range: $100,000 - $160,000</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Medical, Dental and Vision benefits </li><li>This role is eligible for a monthly cell phone allowance </li><li>Empower is our 401k company.
