<p>Job Summary and Responsibilities</p> <p>Primary function of position provides ongoing observation either through in person or through Camera/Monitor</p> <p>technology of patients on suicide prevention watch as a result of identified risk factor and high risk patient fall</p> <p>risk, and monitors patients for signs of detrition, agitation, impulsiveness and/or attempts to get of bed/chair unassisted,</p> <p>for pulling on lines, tubes or other medical devices and for vomiting in patients wearing C-pap or Bi-pap masks.</p> <p>Work also includes establishing/maintaining effective communication channels with bedside direct patient care staff,</p> <p>reporting potentially dangerous changes in patient behavior, and escalating communications as necessary using</p> <p>established protocols and best judgment. Position will cover shifts at Saint Joseph London and Saint Joseph Berea</p> <p>contingent on where the sitter need is.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>SITTER DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Must maintain visible contact with the patient at all times. </li><li>Promptly communicates all patient requests to assigned staff. </li><li>Observes the client for general physical, emotional, and mental conditions and reports all changes in condition. </li><li>Maintains a clean and safe environment. Documents utensils into and out of the patient room. </li><li>Provide diversional activities as designated by an assigned staff. </li><li>Prepare the room and patient per policy to ensure safety. </li></ul> <p>REMOTE MONITORING DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provides ongoing observation through Camera/Monitor technology of patients on suicide prevention watch as a </li></ul> <p>result of identified risk factors and high risk fall risk patients.</p> <ul> <li>Ensures pertinent patient data is brought to the attention of appropriate personnel in a timely manner. </li><li>Notifies the appropriate staff nurse immediately if a change in patient activity occurs. </li><li>Receives report for the Sitter/Monitor staff on the previous shift and gives an accurate report to the oncoming </li></ul> <p>Sitter/Monitor.</p> <ul> <li>Identifies and immediately reacts appropriately to all life-threatening patient actions. </li><li>Observes and records all patient activity every 15 minutes. </li></ul> <p>The job summary and responsibilities listed above are designed to indicate the general nature of the work</p> <p>performed within this job.
