<p>Job Description</p> <p>CDM Smith's Boston-based Environmental Engineering team is growing, and we're looking for a motivated engineer ready to make a real impact. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile water and wastewater projects while collaborating with technically strong, passionate professionals who are shaping resilient infrastructure for communities.</p> <p>In this role, you'll contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure projects from concept through construction, bringing technical excellence, sound judgment, and creative problem-solving to every phase.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <p>Plan, design, and deliver water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, sewer and water systems, remediation sites, and solid waste facilities to meet client and regulatory requirements.</p> <p>Prepare and review engineering designs, technical reports, and calculations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as CDM Smith quality standards.</p> <p>Lead or support water quality analyses and modeling efforts to inform design decisions.</p> <p>Conduct site visits, field reviews, and condition assessments to confirm that designs align with site-specific requirements.</p> <p>Update and refine design criteria and technical approaches as project requirements evolve.</p> <p>Collaborate with project managers, technical specialists, and discipline leads to deliver high-quality, coordinated designs.</p> <p>Technical Leadership & Thought Leadership</p> <p>Serve as a technical resource by providing guidance, mentorship, and training to junior engineers.</p> <p>Review and oversee the work of junior staff, supporting their professional growth and development.</p> <p>Contribute to the firm's technical knowledge management (TKM) efforts by developing white papers, technical memoranda, and special-study documentation.</p> <p>Prepare and submit technical papers and designs for publication in professional journals and conferences.</p> <p>Client & Business Development Involvement</p> <p>Partner with sales and project teams to support proposals and responses to RFPs, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to best practices.</p> <p>Participate in meetings with existing and prospective clients to understand their current and future infrastructure needs.</p> <p>Represent CDM Smith at conferences, symposia, and industry events to enhance visibility and strengthen client relationships.</p> <p>What We're Looking For</p> <p>An environmental engineer with a strong foundation in water and wastewater engineering and a passion for technically challenging work.</p> <p>Someone who enjoys balancing hands-on technical design, collaboration, and mentorship.</p> <p>A professional who takes pride in quality, innovation, and delivering solutions that make a measurable difference for communities.</p> <p>At CDM Smith, you'll find the technical depth, project variety, and support to grow your career-while working on projects that truly matter.</p> <p>#LI-JR1</p> <p>#LI-HYBRID</p> <p>Employment Type</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.</p> <p>Professional engineering (PE) license.</p> <p>7 years of related experience.</p> <p>Domestic and/or international travel may be required.</p> <p>The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.</p> <p>Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.</p>
