<p>Position Title:</p> <p>Parks Maintenance Technician/Special Event Support</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Overview: The Parks & Events Support Staff will assist the Parks Division with general maintenance duties while serving as the primary liaison for the events team and parks maintenance. This role ensures that parks are properly prepped for events and provides support for city-hosted events. The position requires coordination with the district supervisor to ensure proper access to necessary utilities and facilities.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Even Preparation: Prepare parks for events, these duties include; ensuring cleanliness, accessibility, and necessary infrastructure availability; Communicate with the district supervisor before each event to confirm access points for power, water, and other park utilities. </li><li>Event Support: Open power boxes and operate water access points as required for events; Assist city events team with transporting, setting up, and taking down event equipment, including canopies, tables, and chairs; Manage onsite waste disposal, ensuring trash bins are available and emptied as needed. Maintain and oversee restroom facilities during events, ensuring they are stocked and functional; Monitor event activities to prevent damage to park property and ensure responsible use of resources </li><li>Performs a variety of duties required to maintain City-owned grounds, parks, trails, cemeteries, open spaces, and recreation facilities, including mowing, aerating, and weeding turf; cleaning restrooms; picking up trash; raking leaves; clearing sidewalks; and removing debris. Assists with park-related projects such as laying sod, re-seeding, and planting of flowers and trees and inspecting and adjusting sprinkler systems. </li><li>Operates various types of handheld and light mechanical equipment including mowers, sweepers, blowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment. May operate heavy landscaping equipment (not requiring a Commercial Drivers License). </li><li>Operates various types of vehicles, equipment and irrigation systems necessary to successfully complete assigned tasks. Responsible for the preventive maintenance, minor repairs and adjustment of equipment to ensure the proper operation and safe efficient use. </li><li>Assist in the proper mixing and application of fertilizers, herbicides and other chemicals used in the care and maintenance of turf and landscaped areas. </li><li>Assist in the preparation of ball fields, parks and picnic areas when areas are specifically reserved by the public. Inspects and cleans areas where unauthorized camping has occurred to make presentable for all to use. May work with County Health Department and other City staff to clear areas occupied by person's experiencing homelessness. </li><li>Perform related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to get to various Parks and Public Lands facility. May require personal and city vehicle with a valid driver's license or driving privilege card. </li><li>Must be at least 16 years of age. </li></ul> <p>DESIRED QUALIFICATION:</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience in event setup, maintenance, or related field preferred. </li><li>Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Experience in maintenance and landscaping. </li><li>Experience working for a city municipal park. </li><li>Experience operating light or heavy-duty equipment </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Moderately heavy physical activity required to push, pull or lift medium weights up to 50lbs and on occasion up to 80lbs. Required to stand, walk or sit uncomfortably for extended periods.
